Kedar Narayan, Ph.D.

Kedar Narayan is the group leader for cellular imaging at the CMM. He earned a Ph.D. in immunology, and has a research background in chemistry, pathology, and biophysics. Kedar’s work focuses on the use of emerging technologies for subcellular imaging. At CMM, he is responsible for FIB-SEM technology development and for driving collaborative projects that use FIB-SEM, electron tomography and correlative imaging approaches to explore cellular mechanisms.

Natalia de Val, Ph.D.

Natalia de Val is a group leader for the Cryo-EM area at the CMM. She earned her Ph.D. in Biochemistry at the University of Leuven, Belgium. She has extensive experience on single particle analysis with cryo-EM as well as cryo-electron tomography, and she has a research background in the HIV and other viruses. At CMM, she is responsible for the management of the Cryo-EM area.

Irene Chang, Ph.D.

Irene Chang earned her Ph.D. in materials science and engineering, with an emphasis on biological materials. She has research experience in the characterization of cell properties and behaviors, including migration and proliferation. Her work at the CMM focuses on developing new EM sample preparation techniques and instrumentation to study tissue ultrastructure.

Tara Fox, Ph.D.

Tara Fox is a postdoctoral fellow at the Center for Molecular Microscopy. She earned her Ph.D. in pharmacology, focusing on the structural study of nanoparticles by cryo-electron microscopy. Her research at the CMM involves analysis of biological samples with cryo-electron tomography.

Adam Harned

Adam Harned is an electron microscopist with extensive industry and research experience concerning the applications of VP-SEM, FE-SEM and TEM technologies for both biological and materials samples. His main role will be assisting in the collection of FIB-SEM data.

Oleg Kuybeda, Ph.D.

Oleg Kuybeda is a research scientist in the Center for Molecular Microscopy team. He earned his Ph.D. in electrical engineering, and he specializes in image and signal processing on compact computing platforms. He is responsible for generating new image processing workflows and enablers for cryo-electron microscopy.

Kunio Nagashima

Leidos Biomedical Research, Inc.

Kunio Nagashima has extensive experience developing techniques for preparation of tissue and cellular samples for transmission and scanning electron microscopy. He specializes in the analysis of biological samples by EM and related technologies.
